## What a delivery note is

A delivery note (or delivery challan) accompanies goods when they're shipped. It lists the items and quantities delivered so the customer can check the consignment against what they ordered — but, unlike an invoice, it usually shows **no prices**.

## Delivery note vs invoice

- **Delivery note** — proves what was physically delivered; quantities, no money.
- **Invoice** — demands payment; prices, tax, and totals.

They often reference the same order, but serve different purposes: one for the warehouse and goods-in team, the other for accounts.

## Why it matters

A signed delivery note is your evidence that goods arrived in full and in good condition. It protects you in disputes about short or damaged deliveries.

## How to create one

1. Open the [Delivery Note Generator](https://www.pyalm.com/free-tools/delivery-note-generator).
2. Add your details and the "deliver to" address.
3. List items and quantities (prices are hidden in this mode).
4. Print or save as PDF for the driver to carry.

## From delivery to invoice

Once goods are delivered, you'll bill for them. Create the matching invoice with the [Invoice Generator](https://www.pyalm.com/free-tools/invoice-generator), or manage the full order-to-cash cycle in [Pyalm Books](https://www.pyalm.com/books).
