Different jobs need different symbologies. Retail point-of-sale relies on EAN-13 and UPC-A; cartons and cases use ITF-14 built on a GTIN-14; and internal stock, asset, and shipping labels typically use the flexible Code 128. Pick the type, enter your data, and download a print-ready PNG.
Use EAN-13 or UPC-A for retail products sold at point of sale, ITF-14 for outer cartons (GTIN-14), and Code 128 for general internal or shipping labels. Code 39 is common in industrial settings.
Most symbologies require a specific data format — EAN-13 needs 12–13 digits, UPC-A needs 11–12 digits, ITF-14 needs 14 digits. The error message tells you what the symbology expects.
To sell through retailers you usually need a GTIN licensed from GS1. This tool renders the barcode for any number you enter, but the number itself must be one you're authorised to use.
