The calculator uses the common simplified formula LTV = monthly ARPU × gross margin ÷ monthly customer churn. It is useful for a fast health check, but cohort retention and contribution-margin cash flows give a more accurate picture when you have enough data.
A ratio above 1 means estimated gross-profit LTV exceeds acquisition cost. Many teams use 3:1 as a planning benchmark, but the right target depends on cash constraints, retention quality, and how quickly CAC is recovered.
CAC payback in months = CAC ÷ monthly gross profit per customer. It estimates how long gross profit takes to recover the cost of acquiring a customer.
