How to Rotate PDF Pages Permanently (Not Just in Your Viewer)
Rotating in a PDF viewer only changes your screen. Here's how to save the rotation into the file, page by page or all at once.

You open a scanned PDF and half the pages are sideways. You rotate them in your viewer, send the file — and the recipient sees them sideways too. That's because most viewers only rotate the view. To fix it for everyone, the rotation has to be saved in the file.
How to rotate PDF pages permanently
- Open the free Rotate PDF tool.
- Choose your PDF — every page appears as a thumbnail.
- Click ↺ or ↻ under any page to rotate just that page, or use Rotate all.
- Click Download rotated PDF.
The rotation is written into each page's settings, so every PDF reader displays it the right way up.
Why scans come out sideways
Scanners and phone scanning apps guess orientation from the page; landscape spreadsheets, receipts and ID cards often confuse them. Mixed-orientation documents — a portrait contract with a landscape schedule — are the most common culprits.
Does rotating reduce quality?
No. Rotation only changes a page attribute; the content isn't re-rendered or compressed. File size stays the same.
Tips
- Landscape pages should stay landscape. Rotate only pages that are upside down or sideways relative to their content — a wide table is meant to be read in landscape.
- Fix before you merge. Rotate each source file first, then merge them.
- Then compress if needed. Scans are large; Compress PDF can shrink them for email.
Why browser-based PDF tools are safer
Most online PDF sites upload your file to their servers. Pyalm's PDF tools run entirely in your browser — the file is read, processed and saved on your own device and never sent anywhere. That matters for contracts, invoices, bank statements and ID documents.
Stop handling business PDFs by hand
Most business PDFs are invoices, quotations, receipts and statements. Pyalm Books generates them for you — VAT-compliant, numbered, emailed to the customer and stored — so there's nothing to merge, rename or fix afterwards.
