How to Create a Statement of Account (Free Generator)

A statement of account summarises all transactions with a customer and the balance they owe. Here's how to create one to speed up collections.

What a statement of account is

A statement of account (SOA) is a summary you send a customer listing every invoice, credit, and payment over a period, with a running balance and the total they currently owe. It's one of the most effective, polite ways to chase overdue payments.

Why send one

  • It reminds customers of everything outstanding in one place.
  • It surfaces disputes early ("we never received invoice #102").
  • It looks professional and makes paying easy.

Sending statements regularly — monthly, or before period-end — measurably speeds up collections.

What to include

  • Your details and the customer's
  • Each transaction with date, reference, debit/credit
  • A running balance and the closing amount due

The free Statement of Account Generator calculates the running balance as you add transactions.

How to create one

  1. Open the Statement of Account Generator.
  2. Add your logo and both parties' details.
  3. Enter each transaction; the balance updates live.
  4. Print or save as PDF and send it.

Automate your receivables

Building statements by hand doesn't scale. Pyalm Books tracks every invoice and payment per customer and produces statements automatically.

Tax Invoice vs Simplified Tax Invoice: Which Can You Issue?

UAE VAT allows a shorter invoice in specific situations only. Issuing the simplified version when you were not entitled to leaves your customer unable to recover the VAT.
