EBITDA is earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation. It approximates operating cash profit by stripping out financing and accounting choices. It is a useful way to compare businesses, but it ignores capital spending and tax, so read it alongside net profit and cash flow.
EBITDA = revenue − cost of sales − operating expenses (excluding depreciation and amortisation).
EBIT subtracts depreciation and amortisation from EBITDA. It is the operating profit after those non-cash charges.
