How UAE gratuity works

Under the UAE Labour Law, employees who complete at least one year of continuous service are entitled to end-of-service gratuity based on their last basic salary: 21 days' basic pay for each of the first five years, and 30 days' basic pay for each year beyond five. Total gratuity is capped at two years' wages.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is UAE gratuity calculated?

Daily wage = basic monthly salary × 12 ÷ 365. You earn 21 days of daily wage per year for the first five years, and 30 days per year after that. No gratuity is due for less than one year of service, and the total is capped at two years' total salary.

Is gratuity based on basic or total salary?

Gratuity is calculated on the basic salary only — it excludes housing, transport, and other allowances. Enter your basic component for an accurate estimate.
