Goods and Services Tax (GST) in India is a destination-based tax applied across five main slabs. Getting the split right matters: an intra-state sale divides into Central GST (CGST) and State GST (SGST), while an inter-state sale is charged as a single Integrated GST (IGST). This calculator shows the base, the GST, and both splits at once.
Use Add GST when you have a base price and want the final amount. Use Reverse GST when you already have a GST-inclusive figure and need to extract the tax for your books or returns.
India's GST has five main rates: 0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%. Essential items are taxed at lower rates while luxury and 'sin' goods sit at 28%. Pick your slab above and the calculator does the rest.
For a sale within the same state (intra-state), GST is split equally into CGST (central) and SGST (state). For a sale between states (inter-state), the whole amount is charged as IGST. This calculator shows both splits.
To add GST, multiply the base price by (1 + slab/100). To reverse GST from a GST-inclusive price, divide by (1 + slab/100) to get the base, then subtract for the GST. Use the Add and Reverse modes above.
Divide the GST-inclusive amount by (1 + rate/100). For 18% GST, divide by 1.18 to get the base value; the difference is the GST. The 'Reverse GST' mode does this automatically.
