Pyalm POS: an offline-first billing app with cloud sync

A native mobile billing app that works with no connection and syncs to the cloud when it can, built with Expo and an Express sync API.

India & UAE
The challenge

What needed solving.

Small shops cannot stop billing when the internet drops. Sales, payments, credit, and stock had to keep working fully offline and then reconcile across several devices.

What we built
  • Expo / React Native app with a local SQLite database as the source of truth
  • Product catalogue with price, cost, stock, and barcode
  • Quick-tap billing, discounts, and full, partial, or credit payments
  • Collections on credit sales, sales history, and analytics
  • Background sync to a Postgres cloud API with multi-device pull
Key decisions

Local database first

Every action writes to SQLite on the device immediately; the network is only used to back up and share changes, so the app never waits on connectivity.

Simple, predictable conflict rules

Last-write-wins per record keeps sync understandable for small teams while still supporting several devices per business.

The result

Shops bill customers without interruption and see the same data on every device once they reconnect.
