Social Media Image Sizes Cheat Sheet (Instagram, LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp, YouTube)
The recommended image dimensions for every major platform, why they matter, and how to resize images to fit in seconds.

Every platform crops, compresses and displays images differently. Upload at the wrong size and your logo gets cut off, text becomes blurry or the important part of the photo disappears behind the profile picture.
Image sizes by platform
| Platform & placement | Size (px) | Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram square post | 1080 × 1080 | 1:1 |
| Instagram portrait post | 1080 × 1350 | 4:5 |
| Instagram / Facebook / WhatsApp story | 1080 × 1920 | 9:16 |
| Facebook feed post | 1200 × 630 | 1.91:1 |
| LinkedIn shared image | 1200 × 627 | 1.91:1 |
| LinkedIn company cover | 1128 × 191 | ~6:1 |
| X (Twitter) post image | 1600 × 900 | 16:9 |
| YouTube thumbnail | 1280 × 720 | 16:9 |
| Link preview (Open Graph) | 1200 × 630 | 1.91:1 |
| WhatsApp profile / business logo | 640 × 640 | 1:1 |
Platforms change their layouts periodically, so treat these as reliable defaults rather than fixed rules.
Resize in seconds
- Open the free Image Resizer.
- Add your images.
- Choose a preset (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube…) or enter custom dimensions.
- Choose Fill & crop for exact-size output or Fit inside to keep the whole image.
- Download.
To control exactly what stays in frame, crop first with the Image Cropper.
Design tips that survive cropping
- Keep text and logos in the centre 80% — feeds and thumbnails crop edges.
- Use large text; most people see your post as a small thumbnail on a phone.
- Portrait (4:5) posts take up more of the feed than square ones.
- For link previews, design a dedicated image with the OG Image Generator.
Your images stay on your device
Pyalm's image tools process files with your browser's canvas. Nothing is uploaded — useful for ID photos, product shots before launch, and screenshots containing customer data.
From social posts to WhatsApp campaigns
The same visuals work on WhatsApp. Tenreply sends rich-media broadcasts — images, catalogues and buttons — to opted-in customers, with replies landing in a shared team inbox.
