DTCM / DET Event Permit Problems: 10 Common Issues and How to Avoid Them

The most common reasons event permits in Dubai get delayed or rejected — late applications, venue paperwork, ticket changes, early promotion — and how to avoid each one.

Most permit delays aren't caused by the authority. They're caused by incomplete or changing applications. Here are the issues we see most often, and how to stay clear of them.

This is a planning guide, not legal advice. The authorities set the rules and change them from time to time, so confirm the current requirements for your event before you commit to dates.

1. Applying too late

Problem: you submit four weeks before the event and need tickets on sale tomorrow. Fix: start 10–12 weeks before your on-sale date. Use the event planning timeline.

2. Venue paperwork missing

Problem: no venue NOC, or the venue hasn't confirmed your dates. Fix: confirm the venue and request its paperwork first.

3. Ticket categories change after submission

Problem: you add a VIP tier or change prices after approval. Fix: plan your full price ladder up front. See the ticket pricing calculator.

4. Capacity doesn't match

Problem: ticket quantities add up to more than the venue's approved capacity. Fix: check capacity first. See the venue capacity calculator.

5. Promoting before approval

Problem: ads and posts go live before the permit. Fix: tease "coming soon" if you must, but launch sales only after approval.

6. Performer details incomplete

Problem: missing artist or speaker information. Fix: collect details as soon as talent is confirmed.

7. Unlicensed applicant

Problem: the organiser isn't licensed to apply. Fix: work with a licensed company or agent.

8. Selling through unapproved channels

Problem: tickets sold through random links or personal accounts. Fix: sell through a proper ticketing system tied to your approved inventory.

9. Missing other approvals

Problem: stage, structures or road use without civil defence, police or transport sign-off. Fix: list every approval your event needs at the start.

10. Unclear refund and cancellation terms

Problem: no published terms for refunds, transfers or cancellations. Fix: write clear terms and show them at checkout.

Avoid all ten
