Ramadan is one of the busiest and most meaningful times for events in the UAE. Hotels run iftar and suhoor tents, companies host iftars for staff and clients, and communities gather every evening. Good planning starts early, because the best venues and dates book up weeks ahead.

Planning guidance only. Rules, dates and requirements change, so confirm the current position with the relevant authority and your venue for each event.

Timing

Ramadan follows the lunar calendar, so it moves about 11 days earlier each year. Dates are confirmed by moon sighting. Build in flexibility for the first and last nights, and start planning 8–10 weeks ahead.

Event Planning focus
Iftar tents (hotels, venues) Nightly capacity, set menus, table bookings, sunset timing
Suhoor experiences Late-night seating, entertainment within current guidelines
Corporate iftars Guest lists, RSVPs, seating, invitations
Community & charity iftars Free registration, volunteers, donations
Ramadan markets Vendor management, footfall, timed entry

Ticketing and bookings

  • Sell per night, per table with set package prices
  • Show sunset or iftar time clearly on every ticket
  • Use WhatsApp reminders an hour before iftar, with directions
  • Let guests change dates rather than refund

Guest experience

Arrival is concentrated in the minutes before sunset, so fast check-in matters. Scan tickets or use a guest list on tablets, and seat people quickly. Plan gates with the check-in calculator and tables with the seating planner.

Respectful planning

Be mindful of fasting guests and staff, prayer times and current guidance on entertainment and public conduct during Ramadan. If your event is public or ticketed, check permit requirements. See do you need an event permit in Dubai?
